Frequently Asked Questions

We meet at Fultondale First Baptist Church on 12 Thursdays each semester from 8:30-3:00. The dates for 2026-2027 will be announced soon.

Start by looking at the age range. If your student is on the edge of an age range, evaluate their skill level of the topic in question as well as maturity level and move them up or down as you see fit. After you complete your application, we will talk through course choices and make sure they are in the right place for your student.

Curriculum varies by class.

A few classes have a required curriculum your student will need to participate. Others have a recommended curriculum that will pair well with the class but is not required if you have another curriculum you prefer to use at home during the week. Some classes will have a provided curriculum created by the teachers. See class descriptions for details.

Most of our teachers are homeschooling parents, but all are individuals chosen to teach specific classes based on their experience or expertise in the subject area they are teaching. All of our teachers are required to pass a background check and asked to sign a Christian statement of faith.

We have two registration options for 8:30-1:00 Classes: Parent On Campusand Student Drop-Off.

Parent On Campus: A parent or guardian is required to remain on campus with students. We encourage parent educators to be in the class learning with their student when possible. Parents on campus also have the option to assist in a class as well for tuition credit.

Student Drop-Off:A limited number of students can obtain a student drop-off spot. These students will be dropped off by a parent at 8:30 and picked up at 1:00 after morning classes, lunch, and time on the playground.

Afternoon Classes from 1:00-3:00: Parents must be on campus during this time.

Our afternoon classes are Direct Instruction classes, meaning new skills are being taught which students and parent-educators would both benefit from learning together in class in order to best practice and implement those skills at home during the week. Students 15 years or older may attend afternoon classes without their parent-educator on campus, if the parent chooses.

“Direct Instruction” classes are intended to introduce and develop new skills or a new level of skills by building on previous skills. “Guided Practice” classes allow students to practice and reinforce skills which are already learned or are being taught at home.

Student Drop-Off Tuition:

$600 per student each semester for student drop-off from 8:30-1:00. This time includes Abide Morning Assembly, Unit Study or Science and History classes, Math Enrichment, Lunch, and Playground time. Students staying for afternoon classes must have a parent join them in class. Afternoon classes are additional Parent On Campus tuition.

Parent On Campus Tuition: (Morning and Afternoon Classes)

$100 per class each semester ($200 for Unit Study which is a 2-hour class).

Full Payment Discount:10% off total for full year’s tuition payment by September 1st.

The Intellectual Artsare skills in Language and Mathematics which we use to learn.  We call these skills the Intellectual Arts, but they are also known as the Liberal Arts. There are 7 Liberal Arts.

The Language Arts are Grammar (Language), Dialectic (Reasoning), and Rhetoric (Articulation).

The Mathematical Arts are Arithmetic (Calculation), Geometry (Spatial Reasoning), Astronomy(Observation and Data Collection), and Harmony(Proportion).

The Sciences are the bodies of knowledge about which we are learning. The Sciences consist of Natural Science, Moral Science and Divine Science. These are also sometimes referred to as Philosophies. Modern day subjects included in The Sciences are subjects like Science (Natural), History and Geography (Moral), and Theology (Divine).

The Arts and Sciences intentionally taught or practiced in each class are indicated by the colorful symbols found in the class description.

Abide- Morning Assembly

Each week at 8:30, we will begin our day together with a time of prayer and worship.

During this time, we will sing hymns and songs for scripture memory and New City Catechism and learn the sign language that goes with the words. We will also cover our weekly virtue and discuss a person in history who demonstrated that virtue.

This is not a class in which you need to be enrolled. Anyone enrolled in classes is welcome to join us for this time together meant to start our day from a place of worship.

**If a class does not meet minimum enrollment number, the students enrolled will be placed in the closest appropriate level for that class subject thread. Class times are subject to change between now and the Fall based on enrollment and teacher schedules.

If anything needs to change, we will notify those enrolled as soon as possible.**
